Autologous Transplant

When you supply your own stem cells for a transplant, it is called an autologous transplant. In an autologous transplant, your healthy stem cells are extracted before any chemotherapy or radiation therapy begins to kill off any cancer cells that are in your body. Once you finish your chemotherapy or radiation therapy, then your healthy cells are infused back into your bones, allowing for the growth of new and healthy blood-producing hematopoietic stem cells.
