Podcast: Weighing the Risk of CT Scans

Overexposure to radiation from CT scans and other sources can increase a person's chance for developing cancer. In this episode of Cancer Connection, Washington University radiologist Andrew Bierhals, MD, MPH, discusses the controversies surrounding CT scans and what types of tests patients should avoid. He says patients and physicians must weigh the immediate benefits of CT scans in detecting serious health problems with the undefined risk of radiation exposure that might affect a person in the future.
