Stereotactic Radiation Therapy for Early Stage Lung Cancer

Oct. 22, 2009 -- The statistics associated with lung cancer are sobering: The five-year survival rate is 15 percent, according to the American Cancer Society, and the disease accounts for more cancer-related deaths in the United States than any other, with about 160,000 projected for 2009.

Despite these numbers, physicians and researchers at the Siteman Cancer Center say the disease is treatable. In their clinics and labs, they are developing pioneering approaches that increase the odds for patients facing lung cancer.
