Distal Pancreatectomy and RAMPS

September 2009 – For patients with early stage pancreatic cancer, surgery is an option. In this video, Washington University surgeon William Hawkins, MD, describes distal pancreatectomy, a procedure to remove cancer from the body and tail of the pancreas. Surgeons at the Siteman Cancer Center pioneered a new way to perform the surgery called RAMPS that improves chances of cleanly removing tumors.
