2012 Developmental Research Award in Endometrial Cancer

Applicants are invited to apply for research development funds for translational research projects related to endometrial cancer. Proposed projects will be reviewed with the intent that they will develop sufficiently, within one-two years, to be submitted for external peer-reviewed funding as translational endometrial cancer research projects.  $50,000 awarded for one year.
Deadline: electronic proposal due November 2, 2012. Decision: December 1, 2012.

 Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer (TREC)

The Washington University TREC Center invites investigators to submit developmental projects in the area of nutrition, energetics1, energy balance, obesity, physical activity and cancer. These projects should provide an avenue for introducing and integrating new investigators and innovative technologies, methodologies, and/or research in the TREC infrastructure.
Deadline: Letter of Intent due November 16, 2012. Application due February 15, 2013. 

 Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) Young Investigator Award
The MRA is the largest private funder of melanoma research. This award provides $75,000/year for three years to new faculty to accomplish innovative, translational research projects. Applicants must be investigators within four years of their first academic faculty appointment.
Deadline: November 15, 2012 

 Oncologic Nursing Society Foundation “Adherence to Oral Chemotherapy Research Grant”
Applications are invited for research proposals that address adherence to oral chemotherapeutic agents including targeted therapies, a high-priority topic area identified by the ONS Research Agenda. To be considered for funding, the research team must include an advanced practice nurse and researcher. Up to $150,000.
Deadline: Letter of Intent due January 7, 2013. Application due February 18, 2013. 

 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research Seed Grant
The grant provides up to $40,000 USD to RSNA members for a one-year project to support the preliminary or pilot phase of scientific projects, not to supplement major funding already secured. No salary support for the PI will be provided. This grant is open to all levels of radiologic investigators, with an established academic appointment.
Deadline: Application due January 15, 2013. 

 Harry J. Lloyd Charitable Trust Career Development Award
To be used for salary support for promising young melanoma investigators (MD or PhD). The award amount is unspecified. The funding is considered a research grant, and the funds cannot be applied to institutional overhead, indirect costs, or other organizational levies. One applicant will be chosen from Washington University through an internal competition.
Deadline: Washington University Internal application deadline is January 3, 2013. Application due February 1, 2013. 

 Harry J. Lloyd Charitable Trust Basic Research and Translational Research Grants
The Basic Research Grant will fund research to gain new biological insights in to melanoma development or progression. The Translational Research Grant will fund clinically important melanoma research. One applicant for each program will be chosen from Washington University through an internal competition.
Deadline: Washington University Internal application deadline is January 3, 2013. Application due February 1, 2013.  

 NIH/Basic Cancer Research in Cancer Health Disparities (U01)
Through this FOA, the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), the Division of Cancer Biology (DCB) and Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP), at the NCI, encourage grant applications from investigators interested in conducting basic, mechanistic research into the biologic/genetic causes of cancer health disparities.
Deadlines: November 20, 2012; June 20, 2013; November 20, 2013  

 Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program – Postdoctoral Fellowship Award
The Postdoctoral Fellowship Award supports exceptionally talented recent doctoral or medical graduates in their pursuit of innovative, high-impact breast cancer research during their postdoctoral training and allows them to obtain the necessary experience for an independent career at the forefront of breast cancer research. Maximum funding of $300,000 (up to 100,000 per year).
Deadline: Letter of Intent due December 4, 2012. Application due December 18, 2012. 

 NIH/National Cancer Institute (NCI) Program Project (P01)
The NCI invites applications for investigator-initiated program project (P01) grants which address any of the broad areas of cancer research including but not limited to, cancer biology, cancer treatment, cancer prevention and control. Basic, translational, clinical, and/or population-based studies in all of these research areas are appropriate. The award amount is unspecified. Applicants may request up to five years.
Deadline: January 25, 2013; May 25, 2013, September 25, 2013
