PECaD Takes Colon Cancer Messaging to the Community
On October 19, 2013, PECaD’s Colorectal Cancer Community Partnership participated in Beyond Housing’s Destination: Healthy Community event. Dr. Aimee James (Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Public Health Sciences), Suzanne Lino-Camacho (PECaD Research Assistant), and community partnership members Yolanda Austin and Bianca Smith attended the event from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. They provided educational materials about colon cancer, colon cancer screening, and Siteman's "Eight Ways" to reduce cancer risks. They also talked with event attendees, answering questions and encouraging them to know their risk and reminded people to get screened starting at age 50.
