The Cancer Care Clinic at Siteman Cancer Center now provides 24-hour, seven-day-a-week service for Siteman patients in need of urgent care.

Accessible through the Center for Advanced Medicine at 4921 Parkview Place, the Cancer Care Clinic treats Siteman patients suffering from acute issues such as nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and low blood counts.

“Exposure to infectious diseases in emergency rooms can be dangerous to cancer patients, who have compromised immune systems,” clinic manager Sharon Monical said. “The Cancer Care Clinic reduces infection risk for cancer patients in need of nonemergency medical attention. The CCC staff specializes in cancer care.”

Our Cancer Care Clinic will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week starting on May 11, to better serve our patients with convenient, efficient, world-class cancer care.

Patients with acute problems such as heart attack or stroke need to visit an emergency room.

The Cancer Care Clinic, which opened in 2009, recently underwent remodeling. The facility now has new registration and waiting areas, 11 chemotherapy infusion chairs and one private and four semi-private beds. It also features negative room pressure, a technique used to prevent cross-contamination from room to room.

A referral is necessary and can be made by the patient’s nurse coordinator, nurse practitioner or oncologist. Patients also may receive a referral by calling 314-286-0731 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 314-388-6506 from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.

To visit the clinic from the first-floor lobby of the Center for Advanced Medicine, take the hallway on the right behind the piano. Pass the U.S. Bank branch, turn right and go to the Shoenberg Building elevators. The clinic is on the fourth floor of the Shoenberg Building.

Secure, after-hours parking is available through the valet at the ground-level entrance to the Center for Advanced Medicine. The hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays and 24 hours a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
