CBS Radio Helps Siteman "Light the Town Pink"
Oct. 6, 2011 – In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine has once again teamed up with CBS Radio St. Louis to “Light the Town Pink” with pink light bulbs. The bulbs can be placed in home porch lights or at businesses to show support for breast cancer patients and breast cancer screening.
The light bulbs can be purchased through Oct. 31, while supplies last, at all three Siteman locations, CBS Radio offices and many other locations in the community. (See full list.) The cost is $3 each.
All proceeds from light bulb sales will benefit Siteman’s Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program (YWBCP) and screening mammography services. Since 2001, the YWBCP has provided support and educational opportunities to young women diagnosed with breast cancer and young survivors. The program also conducts research to identify genetic factors important in the development of breast cancer in young women.
