Santa Delivers Gifts for Children of Siteman Patients
Dec. 8, 2009 – Santa and a few of his holiday elves were spotted delivering presents to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine today. About 200 toys and games were donated to children who have a family member being treated at one of Siteman’s three facilities in the St. Louis area.
The Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis received the donated presents during the hotel’s toy drive.
“We are grateful for the local community, which has been so generous in their giving for this tremendous cause,” says hotel general manager Thierry Kennel. “We hope these gifts bring smiles to the faces of children whose families are enduring difficult times this holiday season.”
Leukemia patient Cedric Johnson and his wife, Jamie, of East St. Louis, Ill., have only been married a few months but have not had the chance to do much shopping for their first Christmas as husband and wife due to Cedric’s condition. They collected presents for their six children from the donated gifts. Jamie says she is very grateful for the gifts because the family has been focused on Cedric.
“Cedric has been going through so much lately, and today really lifted his spirits,” she says. “I know we are both thankful, and the kids will be even more excited to see them.”
