The Siteman Cancer Center Multiplexed Gene Analysis (MGA) Core is designed to provide members with preferred access to Affymetrix GeneChip® microarray technology that allows for whole genome analysis of gene transcription, genotyping, genome copy number, and DNA sequence. Standard and customized arrays are available for human as well as many different model organism species. The facility can process high density genome tiling arrays (for ChIP on Chip studies) and perform four-color, multiplexed genotyping assays using Molecular Inversion Probe (MIP) chemistry. The facility will also prepare labeled cRNA and DNA targets for gene expression and genomic analysis from investigator provided RNA and DNA, or from tissue or cell specimens. Validated protocols for utilizing amplified DNA and RNA for microarray hybridization allow for analysis of clinical specimens in limiting quantities (e.g. laser capture microdissected tissue, needle aspirate specimens, flow sorted cell populations). The facility utilizes rigorous quality control standards to ensure that all data generated and uploaded to the Bioinformatics Core meets pre-defined performance metrics.

As of April 7, 2008, the NIH requires investigators with a publication using Siteman (or other NIH-funded) shared resources to submit (or have submitted for them) their final, peer reviewed manuscripts to PubMed Central(PMC) upon acceptance of publication, to be made publicly available within 12 months of publication. Many journals automatically submit these for authors, but Washington University also has assistance available through the Becker Medical Library. Please see http://publicaccess.nih.gov/FAQ.htm#b7 or http://becker.wustl.edu/services/scholarly/nihpolicy.html for more information.
