Proton Beam Therapy at Siteman Cancer Center

Nov. 16, 2011 – A technology some think will revolutionize the way a unique form of radiation therapy is delivered has arrived at the Siteman Cancer Center and its Kling Center for Proton Therapy. The world’s first superconducting synchrocyclotron proton accelerator is being installed as part of the Mevion S250 Proton Therapy System. Only a handful of centers nationwide offer proton therapy, which is more targeted than other forms of radiation therapy. Siteman’s proton therapy system will begin treating patients after the new technology receives FDA approval.
