Privacy Policy

**Last revised Sept. 12, 2013

The Siteman Cancer Center ("we," "us") shares the concerns of visitors ("Visitors," "you") to our Internet world wide web site (located at http://www.siteman.wustl.edu/ (the "Site")) about the protection of your personal information online. This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes our practices regarding the privacy of information that we collect through the Site. By using the Site, you signify that you agree to the terms and conditions of this Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, please do not use the Site.

This Policy, and the Siteman Cancer Center's Joint Notice of Privacy Practices (hereby incorporated by reference), represent the sole, authorized statement of the Siteman Cancer Center's practices with respect to the collection of Personal Information through the Site and the Siteman Cancer Center's usage of such information. Any summaries of this Policy generated by third party software or otherwise (for example, in connection with the "Platform for Privacy Preferences" or "P3P") shall have no legal effect, are in no way binding upon the Siteman Cancer Center, shall not be relied upon in substitute for this Policy, and neither supersede nor modify this Policy.

Note Regarding the Use of This Site By Children: The Site does not target Visitors under the age of eighteen (18), and we request that children do not provide personal information through the Site. We encourage parents to monitor and participate in their children's activities on the Internet.

What Information Does the Siteman Cancer Center Collect Through the Site?
The Siteman Cancer Center collects two types of data from Visitors:  (a) "Personal Information" -- that is, for purposes of this Policy, information from which an individual can be identified -- that individual Visitors may (but are not required to) provide; and (b) "Tracking Data" (as defined below), which are automatically collected from every Visitor. These two types of data are described in more detail in the following paragraphs. (Please note that we will make an effort to include a link to this Policy on any page or area of the Site where we collect Personal Information from you.)

(a) Personal Information. The Siteman Cancer Center collects certain Personal Information from Visitors, such as full name, address, zip code, and country of residence, some information on a voluntary basis (for example, when Visitors complete and submit a "contact" form on the Site). In addition, if you contact us by email through the Site, we may keep a record of your correspondence.

(b) Tracking Data. Tracking Data consists of information we collect automatically from each Visitor -- such as browser type, operating system, Internet service provider, IP address, and referring site (if applicable). Tracking Data is not associated with an individual in a personally-identifiable  manner. Tracking Data includes individual as well as aggregate information, such as the total number of Site or page visits and the average time Visitors spend on a page or area of the Site.

How Does the Siteman Cancer Center Use the Information it Collects?

(a) Important Email Notices Regarding the Site and Our Policies. From time to time, in our sole discretion, we may email important information regarding the use of the Site or its services, or changes to our terms, conditions, and policies, to Visitors who have provided us with contact information. Because this information may be critical to your use of the Site, Visitors may not "opt out" of receiving these emails.

(b) Disclosure to Third Parties

Third Parties. By providing your Personal Information through the Site, you authorize the Siteman Cancer Center to share your Personal Information with third parties with which we contract or may contract -- by means of so-called "Business Associate" arrangements -- to provide Visitor services on our behalf, including without limitation providing Visitors with information on health services available at the Siteman Cancer Center, on important advances in the cancer field, and on clinical trial opportunities. Other than as set forth in the foregoing sentence or elsewhere in this Policy, the Siteman Cancer Center will not share with third parties Personal Information provided by Visitors.

Service Providers. The Siteman Cancer Center reserves the right to work with third parties who provide services that may include, but are not necessarily limited to, web site hosting, data analysis, hosted email, and other administrative and technical services. In the event that the Siteman Cancer Center elects to work with third parties for these purposes, the Siteman Cancer Center reserves the right to share Personal Information with such third parties for the purpose of providing such services.

Tracking Data. The Siteman Cancer Center uses Tracking Data to create aggregate reports on Visitor demographics and Site traffic patterns, and may provide these reports to internal staff of the Siteman Cancer Center and its parents, subsidiaries, and affiliated companies. None of the foregoing information we may provide to such third parties can be connected by such third parties to the specific Personal Information supplied to the Siteman Cancer Center by individual Visitors.

Other Disclosures. Finally -- and notwithstanding any other provision of this Policy -- the Siteman Cancer Center reserves the right to use and disclose Personal Information and other information about our Visitors to third parties (including government entities):  when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or that unlawful activities have taken place; to our legal advisors; to enforce our terms and conditions of use and other policies; to protect the rights, property, safety or security of the Siteman Cancer Center, our Visitors, or the public; or to respond to an emergency.

Other Important Notes Regarding Privacy.
